Many famous chairs were designed by architects. In the past, when there were no furniture designers, people thought of interior design as part of architecture. Architects designed everything in a space, including furniture, lighting, wallpapers, curtains, and even products like clocks and cutlery, creating entire living environments.
The chairs they designed were an extension of their buildings, reflecting the architects' ideas of beauty, function, and the style of the times. These chairs were unique and innovative, with a strong presence like sculptures, yet they blended well with the whole space. Even after being separated from the buildings, they were made for, their impact remains strong, and they continue to be loved today for enhancing modern living spaces.
In this exhibition, we introduce chairs designed by around 20 architects from the Oda Collection, along with the buildings that inspired them. These architects thought about every detail of the space and daily life, and they may have been designing not just objects but also how people live.
