Its small size is evident from the fact that the height of the base is just 4 cm. Exquisitely detailed craftsmanship. “You can feel what is embedded in small things.” (Photo: Noritsugu Oda)

These were given to me by Andreas Graversen (now deceased), former chairman of the furniture company Fredericia, as a gift for the company’s 50th anniversary. They are miniature versions of Børge Mogensen’s Spanish Chair and High-Back Chair, made by a silversmith. I originally had two sets. One is part of the Oda Collection (currently on display in Higashikawa), and the other is at my home. The reason I have two is that someone who was living in Denmark came to one of my lectures and kindly offered to give me theirs.

This photo was taken on a Børge Mogensen dining table, with a B2 illustration board placed on top. I also use this table when writing or drawing at home. When I moved from Higashikagura to my new home in Sapporo, I brought it as a spare table. It is a small table for two people, but it can be extended to seat four. My current home is a 95 m² apartment with three rooms, so I have to think carefully about space—even when buying something as small as a bowl. I actually wanted to use an Architect Desk, which is now on display in Tokyo at the “Oda Collection: Hans Wegner Exhibition” (Dec 2, 2025 – Jan 18, 2026). However, it is 180 cm wide and 90 cm deep, and it would have taken up too much space, so I had to give up on that idea.
