The “Oda Collection Organization” was established in 1991 by volunteers involved in Asahikawa Furniture following the move of chair researcher Noritsugu Oda to the furniture production area of Asahikawa, Hokkaido, along with his collection. Since then, for over 30 years, we have been working on the preservation and management of collection, its disclosure and information dissemination. Since the collection was made public by the neighboring town of Higashikawa in 2017, we are collaborating with the town to invigorate our activities toward the realization of a design museum, which has been our goal since the establishment. Anyone from Japan or abroad who sympathizes with our activities, wants to participate, or wants to be involved in some way can become a member. The design museum has already started concretely and exhibitions are scheduled one after another. We would like to invite as many people as possible to participate in our activities to protect and utilize the Oda Collection as a globally shared design cultural heritage.
