WOMEN’S EYES The Perspectives of Women Living with Grace and Strength

The early 20th century, when the Industrial Revolution had swept through Europe and a new philosophy of modern design emerged, was also a time when women began entering society in new ways. Movements for women’s suffrage, the founding of the Woman’s Peace Party in the United States, and the Bauhaus promoting gender equality are just a few examples of how women around the world started taking action based on their own will.

In the field of modern design as well, opportunities for female designers expanded internationally. Drawing on their unique sensibilities as women, they created designs that supported and enriched daily life. These works were conceived from the perspective of the user, and were comfortable, easy to use, beautiful, and full of power to nurture both people and society.

This exhibition highlights outstanding designs by female designers, selected from the Oda Collection.
